Import Products from a File

Import Products from a File

Overview

When importing products, it is important to format the file properly and to use unique product codes to ensure successful import.

To assist you with these requirements, we made it easier by providing example import files that directly reflect your Products library structure. The steps in this workflow will guide you through the process.

The Products library is available in the full version of the software.

Download Example Product Import File

  1. From the black ribbon at the top, select Libraries > Products .
  2. Select a product group in which you wish to import the products. If the desired product group does not exist, add a new product group first.
  3. On the right, select Import/export > Download example product import file .
  4. Save the file to a location on your local or network drive and open it.

Your example import file might have only two columns, Code and Product name . The Code is a required field, but we strongly recommend providing the Product name as well for easier identification and search.

If you find that more fields are needed for your reporting purposes, please contact our Support Team to assist you with adding new custom fields.

Import Products

  1.  Prepare your products data in the file format compatible with our software. Use the example product import file generated in the previous steps.

Do not change the spelling or otherwise rename the column headers.

Please maintain the .csv file format to be able to import products (i.e. do not save the file in a different file format).
  2. In the Products library, select a product group in which you wish to import the products. If the desired product groups does not exist, add a new product group first.

  3. On the right, select Import/export > Import products .

  4. In the Import products screen, click Browse and locate your products import file that you prepared in the first step. Click Open .

  5. Click Submit .

You will be provided with a message indicating whether your import was successful or not.

Once the import is complete, the samples of your products are ready to be added to tests.

To review the import and export history for a product group at any time, in the Products library, select the product group you are interested in, and on the right, select Import/export > Import/export history .
